The story behind Handmade Jems

Curious about how Handmade Jems came to be? Here’s the long story short:

My name is Jemma, and I’m a young entrepreneur based in Melbourne. I created Handmade Jems back in 2019 after starting to sew a few scrunchies in my spare time. What began as a cute, handmade gift option for family and friends has transformed into something I never could have imagined for myself. With some encouragement from those around me and increasing demand from peers, I began to sell these scrunchies to a wider audience.

From there, Handmade Jems was born!

Things have changed over the years. But one thing has remained the same – everything we create and sell is made by hand. We take pride in not only producing luxury, top-quality products, but also in using 100% sustainable practices. Our business is committed to eco-friendly resources and handmade processes, proving to customers that supporting small businesses can give you incredible products with a greater environmental impact.

These days, we are aiming to make self care a priority for all. We truly believe that beauty begins from within, and taking time to ourselves is the best step to help. We still sell a selection of our much loved scrunchies, but we now create several other products including lupin heatpacks, eye pillows, affirmation prints, re-usable facial wipes and more!

Our brand has also significantly expanded. You may come across Handmade Jems products in markets, shops, salons and retreats all across the world! We are grateful to be able to say that we have reached over 25+ countries worldwide and continue to grow the love of self-care.

This journey has been a rollercoaster so far, and there is still so much more to come for this business. I am so grateful for all the love that has gotten us here. Whether you’re a longtime customer or visiting the site for the first time, I am beyond thankful for your support!
